Caerphilly's History
The town of Caerphilly is best known for it's historic castle. The second largest one in Britain, Windsor Castle taking the crown (so to speak), its construction was started on the 11th April 1268 by the English nobleman Gilbert de Clare. This was to consolidate his power in the area against the uprisings of the Welsh prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd. The town of Caerphilly grew up just to the south of the castle at this time.
This area has had people living in it for hundreds of years and with a deep history there are bound to be interesting and unusual stories of the unexpected and paranormal.
This page has been created to collect all of the unusual things that have happened in the area, whether they are encounters with strange animals, lights in the sky, ghostly apparitions, coincidences or any other unexplainable occurrences.
I would love to hear your stories and find out as much as I can. Then, with your permission I'd then publish them here for others to read. I'd also anonymise them before displaying them in case you're worried about people finding out about some of your unusual experiences.

About me
When I was younger I was completely fascinated by the unexplained and the paranormal. To try and explain the wider picture of reality to myself I left that behind and began studying for a scientific degree. It helped me to understand the correct approach to gathering evidence and trying to always think of the logical, obvious answer to problems. But over the last few years I've started to get interested in the paranormal again. It's always been an interest of mine and I've realised that I now live in a incredibly historical town that doesn't appear to have a place to share the unusual things that have happened to the people in the area.
